PostHeaderIcon Lion Dance Crew Dim Sum Session at Shanghai Blues

All the practices and hard work for this year’s batch of lion dancers have been paid off with this awesome flow of delicacies. For the painful work done and practices we have managed to pull off about 8 performances this year including at UCL, Bromley Churchill Theatre, and The Ritz.

As a symbol of reward to our dear lion dancers, as well as to the current committee members and senior crew members who have committed so much before our era, this special gathering has been brought upon at the very lovely Shanghai Blues located near London’s Holborn Station. We have managed to invite Mr. Ho (who is our grateful sponsor for our lion dance team), and his son (aged 4) to this gathering in the event of showing thanks to him.

Overall the event was of great success and all of these would not have happened without great effort from the lion dancers this year. I hereby thank and congratulate the lion dance team of year 2011:
Lion Heads : Yong Ren Tan, Bruce Sui
Lion Backs : John Lim, Yaw Bia Tan
Laughing Buddha : Vincent Cheong
Percussionists : Qi Hui Tan, Claresta Lim, Ken Ho, June Gan

PostHeaderIcon Lion Dance Announcement (21st February 2011)

Dear fellow members,

The Lion Dance Committee wish to thank the juniors who performed in the past few performances, around London. As there are no more requests for the time being, you may now focus on the Malaysian Night performance. However, keep checking your emails, for there might be sudden performances calling for us. And with this, there will not be any practices anymore, unless you wish to practice among yourselves.

We would also like to (happily) announce that the dim sum shall be set to be held at the last week of the Easter Holidays. Should you wish to enjoy the fruits of your hardwork, keep the stated week free. The exact date shall be discussed soon.

With this newsletter, attached is the promotion poster for Malaysian Night 2011. Please spare a few minutes to have a read on it.

Thank you very much.

Yours sincerely,
Tai, Weinan

Dear fellow members,

For the Friday (18th February 2011) evening performance at Chase Bridge School in Zone 4, the logistics is as follows.

Please gather at Beit Hall at 5.15pm, too. We shall be taking tube and bus to the school. As we must arrive at the school by 6.30pm, and that the journey takes around an hour plus to reach the school, please be punctual. We are operating at a very tight schedule.

The Lion Dancers (Ananth, Wui Yang, Bo Yuan and Andrew), Ryan and Zhi Xiong will be taking a taxi from Beit at 5.30pm. All the lion dance equipment: drums, costumes, heads, cymbals, banners, etc. needs to be with them by 5.30pm as well. So, if you are holding the lion dance equipment, please make sure you pass it to the names of people stated above to Beit Hall by 5.15pm. The taxi will arrive punctually at 5.30pm.

For the Saturday (19th February 2011) early afternoon performance, the performance is scheduled to be at 2pm. Please gather at Tanaka Business School at 12pm or straight after MNight morning rehearsal, whichever comes first. The travel time is estimated to be 50 minutes.
